TSA Guidelines for Traveling with E-cigs and E-liquid
Posted by Gorilla Vapes on Aug 10th 2017
Whether you’re packing up your bags for a
quick business trip or jetting off to a tropical resort, planning ahead is
important if you plan to take your vape and accessories. Whenever you’re
traveling with e-cigs and e-liquid, it’s advised to always follow the posted
policies of the airport you’re flying in and out of and read up on the
TSA regulations. But no doubt, you’ll probably
still have some questions as you start planning your trip. To help minimize any
delays or flying frustration, here are some quick travel tips to help you “know
before you go.”
TSA Guidelines for Traveling with E-cigs
According to the TSA, “E-cigarettes and vape pens are only allowed in carry-on bags. They’re prohibited in checked bags due to their lithium battery’s propensity to catch fire.” The FAA states that since these devices are battery powered and have a heating element that vaporizes liquid, they are prohibited in checked baggage. E-cig batteries are only allowed in carry-on bags. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prohibits loose lithium batteries from being transported in checked baggage.
It’s important to note, if you’re traveling with e-cigs and your carry-on bag is checked at the gate, all electronic cigarette and vaping devices, in addition to any spare lithium batteries, must be removed from your bag and kept with you in the aircraft cabin. Just make sure to turn your mod off, take it apart and empty out tanks to prevent in-flight pressure changes that can cause them to leak.
3-1-1 Policy for E-liquid
As far as the liquid used with your vaping device, e-liquid is permitted through security in your carry-on bag only if they comply with the 3-1-1 policy for liquids. 3-1-1 = 3.4 oz containers (100 milliliters or less) that fits in a quart-size, zip top, clear plastic bag (one bag per person) and placed in the screening bin. If you’re traveling with more than 3.4 ounces of e-juice, it must be checked.
Before you head out on your next trip, add these fresh flavors to your packing list:
- Blastin' Foggins Strawberries And Cream by CaribbeanCloud Company- This rich strawberry ice cream flavor is filled with fresh strawberries and topped with creamy milk whip.
- Splashby CCC- Mix three berries with watermelon for a sweet candy twist.
- Splash Ice by CCC- Get wet with this chilling menthol version of fruity favorite, Splash.
Can I Use My Electronic Cigarette in the Airport or on the Airplane?
Many airlines permit vaping inside of the airport’s designated smoking areas. Double check with each airport you’re traveling through to find out for sure.
Vaping, even “stealth vaping” on the airplane, however, is prohibited. A House panel voted in June 2017 to outlaw vaping on planes, even though the Transportation Department already snuffed out the practice by regulation on all U.S. and foreign flights into or out of the country. The last thing you want is to be slapped with a fine for non-compliance of vaping inflight or cause an in-flight disturbance.
Traveling with E-cigs
For many, vaping is more than just a hobby, but an important way of life. If you prepare for your trip properly and store your e-cig, e-liquid and vaping gear safely, you’ll be sure to enjoy your trip without any worries along the way.
